HIV-related mission
EngenderHealth works in partnership with and provides technical assistance and training to public- and private-sector programs and nongovernmental organisation.
Key areas of operation
As a leader of the regional response to HIV, the EAC promotes and develops various regional cooperation priority areas
- Women and children with a special commitment to reproductive rights
- Male involvement with a view to shifting gender norms and reducing HIV transmission and gender-based violence
- Voluntary counselling and testing
- Prevention of mother-to-child transmission
- Reducing stigma and discrimination in healthcare settings
- Integration of HIV, sexually-transmitted infection and reproductive health to address the HIV prevention needs of pregnant women
- Integration of HIV, sexually-transmitted infection and dual protection in family planning counselling
- Management of sexually-transmitted infection and counselling
- Working with Christian and Muslim religious leaders to increase their involvement in HIV prevention and care
- Preparing for the introduction of microbicides, including research on potential barriers of their introduction
Cooperatin with the RST
The RST supports EngenderHealth in their HIV-related work in particular with
- Research and publishing of studies
- Production of digital video clips on positive behaviour change
